The Carter County Jail is a medium-security county detention center located in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The Carter County Jail is operated under the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

Most of the inmates who are in the Carter County Jail are pre-trial detainees or inmates who are waiting to be sentenced.

All inmates in the Carter County Jail are over the age of 18 years old.

There are a few inmates who have already received their sentences. For inmates to stay in the Carter County Jail they will have had to have been sentenced to less than two years.

The Carter County Jail will also take inmates from surrounding correctional facilities and even from the federal level. But most of the people will come from the Ardmore Police Department. The Ardmore Police Department does not have its own jail.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

One of the most cost-effective ways to stay in touch with an inmate is to write to them. Granted writing to them may take a little bit longer to receive and send as it takes the Carter County Jail a day or two to sort through all the mail.

Visitation

Before you visit an inmate, you will want to contact the Carter County Jail to ensure that the inmate is in the facility and not appearing in court.

Inmates will be allowed to visit two visitors per day. Visitors are welcomed to visit an inmate in the Carter County Jail daily from 9 am to 6 pm.

All visits in the Carter County Jail will be behind a glass wall. You will not be permitted to have ANY contact with the inmate. Not even a quick handshake.
