About Colorado Department of Corrections

The Colorado Department of Corrections is a major department in the Colorado state government. The Colorado Department of Corrections will run all state corrections buildings and oversee all the inmates inside of them. As of today, the CDOC oversees 20 state facilities, it is also heavily associated with another 7 facilities, and lastly has contracts with another 3 facilities that are not operated by the department. All inmates that come into the CDOC will be required to go through the DRDC before they are transferred into their permanent facilities. Their permanent facilities are all bases upon their security level and the needs that the inmates may or may not have. As of today, the state of Colorado does not have a death row. So, if an inmate does a capital punishment, they will be classified as a closed custody inmate and will be sent to the Sterling facility.
